The Lord knows the days of the upright, and their inheritance shall be forever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time, and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. (Psalm 37:18-19)
Messiah told us that the Father is so concerned with and involved in our lives, that He keeps track of how many hairs are on our head. It shouldn’t be surprising then to know that He is aware of our days; meaning that He pays attention to the situations that affect our daily lives and that He acknowledges just how many days we have been allotted in this life. Therefore, those who do His Will and are about our Father’s business have a promise — our reward is eternal.
Obviously, it is important for us to be conscious of the fact that we only have predetermined number of days in which we can be about His business. Therefore, those whose hearts are inclined to do what is right in His eyes understand that each day given to us is an opportunity to please Him and advance His kingdom in the earth. We should never waste an opportunity granted us by God to do what is good. I have long prayed that, at the end of my life, it could be said of me what was spoken of Joshua: “He left nothing undone of all that the Lord had commanded” (Joshua 11:15).
I have heard it said that crisis makes the man. Actually, I disagree with that: I’m of the view that crisis reveals the man. According to David, if we live our life in the manner described above, we are guaranteed provision and protection when times are difficult; we will not be put to shame. In other words, crisis and difficulty often distinguishes the righteous from the wicked. In times of difficulty, the wicked may suffer lack, but God will provide for those who have been faithful; while some may have barely enough, the righteous of the Lord will be satisfied with plenty. God is aware of our days and will see to it, as long as we are faithful, that we fulfill our days in a victorious manner.
Blessings and Shalom,
Bill
