Description
This is Bill’s commentary on the Torah portion, Pinchas. The beginning of this commentary continues the narrative of Pinchas’ actions in response to the sin of Ba’al Peor. Rather than being guilty of murder, Pinchas is regarded as one who saved many lives and is rewarded with a “covenant of peace” and is promoted to the position of priest. Another promotion is evident in this portion with the decision that Joshua the son of Nun would succeed Moses upon the latter’s death. While he was imbued with the necessary spirit to see Israel into the land of Canaan, he would not be considered Moses’ equal. Nevertheless, Joshua is a prototype of the Messiah who would, indeed, eclipse Moses in stature. Much more! Approximately 1 hour.
