So the nations shall fear the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth Your glory. For the Lord shall build up Zion; He shall appear in His glory. (Psalm 102:15-16)
The Bible has much to say regarding the restoration of the kingdom of Israel and the future of Jerusalem, much of it in direct opposition to what the world has to say, especially in this present age. Many people throughout the world openly revile Israel and want Jerusalem to be internationalized and stripped of its Biblical connection to the people of Israel. But the God of Israel has something to say on the matter; He says that He will restore Israel and build up Zion, and when He does, all the nations shall fear Him.
That the nations are destined to fear Israel’s God is spectacular enough, but according to David, that is just the beginning — the nations are going to behold His glory! Think about it; for many of us, Israel has been disdained and held in contempt all our life. The UN, the European Union and even U.S. presidents have plotted and maneuvered to keep Israel in a weak and vulnerable position — and with some success. But the day is coming when Zion will break free from these impediments and be restored to the glory not witnessed since the days of Solomon. Actually, it will transcend by far the glory of Solomon because a greater than Solomon will reign from the Holy City — He shall appear in His glory.
Obviously, we don’t know when this will become a reality but let us consider this: restoration is a process, not necessarily an overnight event. That said, consider what is happening in the world as it relates to Israel; though nations tried to isolate her within a ring of fire, those nations have been humbled. Rather than suffering defeat at their hands, Israel has toppled many of her enemies. My point is, I believe we are seeing signs that the time to favor her, yes the set time, has come. The land is being prepared to receive the King, and as this process unfolds, I expect that His wayward people will begin to prepare themselves for His appearing.
I realize that there are many other prophecies that are yet to be fulfilled, and some of them are not pleasant to consider. Still, all of it points to the fact that the King is building up Zion and preparing to appear to all in His glory. The nations will fear, His people will rejoice and the land will sing when the King appears to rule and reign over the earth. Therefore, be encouraged and be filled with hope; there is a better day coming.
Blessings and Shalom,
Bill
