Come and see the works of God; He is awesome in His doing toward the sons of men. He turned the sea into dry land; they went through the river on foot. There we will rejoice in Him. (Psalm 66:5-6)
Men have their agenda — and then there is the will of God. In other words, there have always been, and to this day there remains, those men and women who seduced themselves into thinking their power and greatness was unmatched. They rule over men with an iron fist and deceive themselves into thinking that they control and direct affairs in this world. And while we’ll concede that men do have influence in this world for good or for bad, in the end, those with power have it only because God has allowed it. As Yeshua said to Pilate — a man who considered himself to have the power of life and death — “You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above” (John 19:11).
It is written that God “changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings” (Daniel 2:21). In short, God does as He pleases when it comes to His Creation including mankind which, in the end, causes men to stand in awe of His might and power. As He orchestrates events to fulfill His will, men can only stand back and concede that He alone is God. Egypt was compelled to do so when He turned the sea into dry land allowing millions of His people to cross through the sea bed on foot. Nebuchadnezzar was forced to concede that the God of Israel was the Most High God when his fiery furnace proved to have no affect on the three Hebrews.
Once God sets His plans in motion, there is no power in heaven or on earth that can stop it. So then, knowing that He will cause His purpose to come to pass, and knowing that “all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28), the people of God should rejoice in Him. Not only that but, as David said, we should encourage others to “Come and see the works of God” and to behold His awesome power as displayed in our lives. We should be a living demonstration of how God can and does work in the lives of those who love Him so that others may come to know Him. If we will but submit ourselves to His purpose, there is no power in hell or on earth that can stop the plan of God for us. And for this, we give glory to God forever. Amen.
Blessings and Shalom,
Bill
