Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph! For the Lord Most High is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth. (Psalm 47:1)

As discussed in the previous devotion, there is coming a day like nothing experienced since the beginning of time — when God reigns on earth among men. In that day, all shall know — not just intellectually but by experience — that He is the Lord of all Creation. In short, this is the pinnacle of the redemption that Yeshua spoke of (Luke 21:28) and what the prophets continually wrote about in the Scripture. But to get to that point in time, the nations — who at best consider God to be aloof and remote — must become better acquainted with Him. By this I mean, they are like the Pharaoh who said, “Who is the Lord, that I should obey His voice? I do not know the Lord” (Exodus 5:2). In response the Lord promised to redeem Israel from Egyptian bondage “with an outstretched arm and with great judgments…. Then you shall know that I am the Lord” (Exodus 6:6-7).

There are other instances in Scripture when God makes that same statement — “Then you shall know that I am the Lord” — and it is made both to His people and to the nations of the earth. As for His people, many know of Him but don’t really know Him as they should. Underscoring this is the fact that, dreadfully, Yeshua tells many who considered themselves to be His servants to depart from Him because “I never knew you” (Matthew 7:23). And so, it is one thing to know about Him but another thing entirely to truly know Him — that is, to be intimate with Him in a personal relationship. As for Him, He goes to great lengths to draw those who know about Him into a closer relationship as in a Groom woos His prospective bride. It is for us to respond accordingly so that we might truly know Him in the way He desires of us.

As for the nations who don’t know Him, as I said, they are destined to be more properly introduced. All who defied Him will eventually acknowledge His sovereignty and, because of His awesome deeds, will learn to fear Him. The atheists and the agnostics, though once proudly resisting His authority, will be compelled to recognize that He exists and is responsible for everything that is. Those who argued that He doesn’t involve Himself in the affairs of this world, and consequently felt free to do as they wished, will be forced to acknowledge that, not only is He the Creator but is also the Supreme Judge, rendering justice for man’s actions. In the end, every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is the Lord Most High and is a great King over all the earth. May that day come soon!

Blessings and Shalom,
