Good Morning.
Now the whole earth had one language and one speech. (Genesis 11:1)
With so many nations and so many languages extant in the earth today, it is difficult for people to comprehend that we all came from three brothers who spoke the same language. In Genesis 11, the Bible describes how we got here. It describes how all men spoke the same language but also were of one mind with a common purpose. Unfortunately, that purpose was an ideology focused on globalization and unification against the will of God.
While “coming together” sounds noble and inspiring, there was a hidden agenda – to rebel against God decree to “be fruitful and multiply.” Those words are to be understood to mean that mankind was to spread out in the earth, Their objective was to build a city and a tower the reached unto heaven. Where the city is concerned, it was intended to draw the people together so as not to spread out. Where the tower is concerned, rabbis believe it was to accommodate those who wished to ascend into heaven and make war against God.
The imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth, the Bible says. When large groups of people with wicked imaginations get together for a common goal, those who are striving to live upright before God often feel the affects. Even today, there are men and women of great power and influence who are of one mind and determined to create a global utopia. The problem is that their worldview allows for every philosophy and mindset that wicked man can imagine to become acceptable. This is problematic for those of us who are called to be set apart.
But that is exactly what we must be — set apart, holy. This is our calling and mandate. We must, as Paul admonished, live our lives as living sacrifice unto the LORD.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2)
