Description

This is Bill’s commentary on the torah portion, Naso or “take the sum.” The text continues to describe the division of the Levitical families and their duties concerning the transport of the Sanctuary. In this distinction between the families we see how one might be inclined to belittle the duties of one and magnify those of another. However, we see that everyone’s duties and purpose are unique and important. Therefore, we should learn to function in our purpose and be true to what the Creator has given to us to do. We also learn of the Ordeal of Jealousy and how it teaches us that our Father, who is a jealous God, expects that those who are in covenant with Him are to behave themselves in a way that is above reproach that we need not endure an ordeal. On the other hand, we should learn from the vows of a Nazir that the Creator desires that we distinguish ourselves from the world wholeheartedly. In fact, the consecration and responsibility of a Nazirite was similar to that of the High Priest. (Approximately 60 minutes).
