Good Morning.
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply…” (Genesis 1:27-28)
From the beginning God intended that mankind was to produce offspring and populate the earth, and so accordingly, He blessed them. Later in Genesis 2, the Scripture offers more details as it relates to mankind being fruitful when it describes how God presented the woman unto the man so that they might become “one flesh.” Thus we understand that when a man and woman who love one another are joined together in marriage, their primary purpose is to be fruitful. In fact, other Scriptures infer that the more children a family raises, the better.
This principle speaks also of our union with our Heavenly Bridegroom, the Messiah. One of the reasons we have been joined to Him is in order to produce spiritual offspring — which is, to make disciples. He said:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
He also said that, when we produce fruit we bring glory unto the Father.
“By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.” (John 15:8)
Those who are being conformed to the image of the Son of God are given the responsibility to bear fruit that reflects the One who has called us to follow Him. Let us dedicate ourselves to being “fruitful” that the Kingdom of Heaven might be multiplied in the earth.
Blessings and Shalom,
Bill
