It was on this day, in 1903, that The Protocols of the Elders of Zion was first published in a series of articles in a Russian newspaper. “The Protocols” was a fictional work intended, solely, to discredit Jews and blame them for most of the world’s ills. Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Elie Wiesel, had this to say:
“If ever a piece of writing could produce mass hatred, it is this one. … This book is about lies and slander.”
Despite the fact that many points in the book have been disproven and exposed as lies, it nevertheless continues to be propagated among the nations, especially with the advent of the internet. One of the primary claims made by this book is that Jews are working behind the scenes to manipulate politics and infiltrate world systems in order to bring about global Jewish domination. Given the world’s attitude toward Israel and its people, it would seem that this book might still be influencing the world’s populace.
Two things occur to me where this topic is concerned. First of all, considering that “The Protocols” claim that Jews intend to rule the world even though the world is adamantly united against Israel, how could Israel possibly hope to obtain this goal, outside of the God of Israel? Secondly, in the book of Genesis, Esau accuses his brother Jacob of being a supplanter and a trickster when the latter obtained their father’s blessing. Since then, many people have bought into the lie that Jacob, also known as Israel, is a cheater and thief. But as it turns out, Esau was the one with a shady character, accusing his brother of what he was, in fact, guilty of.
That brings me back to the actions of the world, who are united in their disdain for Israel and its people. For the most part, Israel is accused by the nations of what the nations are actually guilty of. The nations view Israel as the source of many of the world’s problems and, thus, try to isolate and destroy Israel, piece-by-piece. However, it is the nations who are the source of the world’s problems and so, once again, “Esau” is accusing his brother of what he is, in fact, guilty of. This observation is not meant to imply that everything the government of Israel does is righteous. It’s not to say that the leaders of Israel are altogether upright and truthful. It is to say that the God of Israel is righteous and that His Word is true, especially where Israel is concerned.
Ironically, there is an element of truth contained within “The Protocols” — one day, the world will be ruled by a Jew, albeit, not in the way that the writers of “The Protocols” envisioned. One day, a Jewish Rabbi from Nazareth who happens also to be the King of kings and Lord of lords will rule and reign over the earth. The book of Revelation says:
And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Messiah, and He shall reign forever and ever!” (Revelation 11:15)
And to that, we say, “Amen!” Shalom.
