The works of His hands are verity and justice; all His precepts are sure. They stand fast forever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness. (Psalm 111:7-8)

Through the centuries, men have railed accusations against God of being unfair, cruel and far too judgmental. That, or they have claimed there is no eternal Creator; all that we behold in the universe is the result of random phenomenon. Men have tried to “prove” His Word to be nothing more than a collection of fanciful myths created by a bunch of primitives sitting around campfires swapping stories. Actually, it is needful for these scoffers to dismiss God and His Word because, if there is a Creator in Heaven who expects man to live according to His Word, their rebellion and disobedience has consequences. God’s existence and the Truth of His Word stands in the way of wayward  man doing as he pleases, and so rather than amend their ways, they pursue the notion that there is no God, there are no rules and they can do as they wish.

Unfortunately far too many people have bought into this mindset and choose not to  acknowledge God’s existence, much less His sovereignty. But their unbelief does not change what is true — God still reigns and His Word is forever true. As the psalmist said, His precepts are sure — they are time tested and never fail — and everyone who keeps them finds that faithfulness to His Word renders the results promised by the Almighty. The world is constantly changing, and as it does, men change with it — but the Word of Word of God remains constant, always resistant to the winds of change.

This being so, it behooves God’s people to resist societal trends and the whims of fallible men and hold fast to what we know to be true. Though culture pressures us to abandon the “antiquated” notions presented to us in the Bible, we must stand firm in the fact that our God is sovereign, His Word is Truth and does not change to accommodate our carnal inclinations. When all is said and done, His ways will be proven to be just, holy and righteous. Trust Him and you will not be disappointed.

Blessings and Shalom,
