Good Morning.

You will chase your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword before you. Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword before you. (Leviticus 26:7-8)

As we have mentioned previously, there are many who possess temporal treasures but who are miserable human beings. Therefore, we understand that the blessings of obedience can be enjoyed only when a person’s heart is at peace. It doesn’t matter if you are a mega-millionaire if you are continually threatened with the dread of an assault, robbery or devastation. On the other hand, the peace that comes with our obedience God is so pervasive that our enemies will not attempt to use our house as a route to battle. If we are attacked, we will be able to overcome vastly superior forces and see our enemy suffer humiliating defeat.

There are, in fact, many times in Israel’s history when a much smaller force overcame overwhelming odds. Gideon’s assault on the Midianites is an example. Another is the victory of the Maccabees over a much greater force of Greeks. In these and every case, the victory was not accomplished by more skilled or heavily armed forces — it was because God was with them. In some cases, Israel made it to the battlefield after God had already wiped out their enemies,  having gone before them.

So in this context consider this: if five can pursue one hundred and a hundred can cause ten thousand to flee, it behooves us as God’s people to obey His Word and learn to get along with one another for the sake of our family and our brother’s family. In other words, God is more likely to be with us when we are united in Him, as opposed to being divided and separated through strife and contention. The more who are united in service to God and His purpose, will allow for our actions as a whole to be more effective. When we join hands and lock arms under His Kingship, not even the gates of hell will be able to resist the people who serve the Almighty God.

Blessings and Shalom,
