Good Morning.

So Moses and Aaron were brought again to Pharaoh, and he said to them, “Go, serve the Lord your God. Who are the ones that are going?” And Moses said, “We will go with our young and our old; with our sons and our daughters, with our flocks and our herds we will go, for we must hold a feast to the Lord.” (Exodus 10:8-9)

Even though his advisers were convinced of their defeat, Pharaoh still tried to retain some control over the situation. He consented to let them go hold a feast to the LORD but wanted to know who all was going. When Moses informed him that everyone was to go, Pharaoh balked and insisted that the women and children should remain. Apparently, Pharaoh was suspicious that no one would return because he said to Moses, “You have an evil purpose in mind” (Exodus 10:10). Keeping the women and children behind would guarantee that Moses and the men would return.

“Pharaoh” always wants to retain control over the children because the young are more susceptible to manipulation. Those manipulated to think a certain way can be trained to act a certain way later. That is why oppressors and tyrants work so hard to wrest control over children away from parents; they wish to block proper spiritual instruction and replace it with their propaganda and world view. By the way, that is what is going on right now throughout the world. Look how hard the Adversary has worked to keep truth from children in American public schools. Look at what is going on in so many of our so-called institutions of higher learning — they are turning out radicals with a penchant for violence.

Ultimately “Pharaoh” wants God’s plan for the young to be aborted. As a whole, he wants God’s purpose that is alive in God’s people to to die “in the womb” before it develops according to God’s plan. Let the adults worship as they wish, perhaps, but don’t expose the children to this “feast unto the LORD” — Pharaoh” wishes to oversee the welfare of the children. Perhaps this is why the Bible is so emphatic about how we should train our children:

“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” (Deuteronomy 6:6-7)

Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6)

Our children are the future and the next generation charged with taking the message of the Kingdom to the world. It is therefore our responsibility to make sure they join us “at the feast” and aren’t left behind for Pharaoh to corrupt with his manipulative ways and evil words. You be the one to influence them and challenge them to walk according to the ways of our Father.

Blessings and Shalom,
