Good Morning.

These are the same Aaron and Moses to whom the Lord said, “Bring out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their armies.” These are the ones who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring out the children of Israel from Egypt. These are the same Moses and Aaron. (Exodus 6:26-27)

It is interesting that, more than once, God’s people are referred to as “hosts” or “armies” as in this passage. The Hebrew word tzevaot is translated both ways but it is probably better rendered as “armies.” That God’s people are referred to as such implies that our function is more than just sitting in a pew and listening to a message.

One of the primary functions of an army is take ground from the adversary, and in the process, set free those who have been held captive. In order to do this, the army has to advance and go forward against the enemy, not stand around and wait for him to attack. That’s not to say that he doesn’t, and when he does we should hold our ground. But the kingdom of God is designed to be on the move, to break out and advance against the kingdom of darkness.

If there has ever been a time when God’s people should function in this way, it is now. We should be advancing against the enemy, not running the other way or sheltering in place. The Messiah said that if we are established upon the rock — the fact that He is the Messiah and Son of the Living God — the very gates of hell cannot prevail against us. In that statement He is saying that we shouldn’t wait around for Satan to attack us and hold on for dear life, but that we are to take the fight to him. Therefore, let’s be about our Father’s business and march forward as a mighty army.

Blessings and Shalom,
