Good Morning.

“While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.(Genesis 8:22)

There are several issues we could address based on what is revealed in this verse but, today, we’ll start with this — God’s purposes are forever. In fact, we could say there is no such thing as the “end of the world.” God created the earth to function according to His eternal purpose and that also encompasses man’s presence upon the earth. True, this age will come to an end and the earth will eventually undergo a dramatic regeneration whereby it will be “new” (Rev 21:1). But the Bible indicates the planet itself was created — not to be ultimately destroyed — but to be the eternal abode of man with God dwelling among them.

That’s right — you and I will not spend eternity “in heaven” — the Bible teaches that, eventually, Heaven will  come down to the earth. John saw this in a vision and recorded it for us in The Revelation:

“Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” (Revelation 21:2)

Here is why we believe it is important to highlight this fact: God’s purposes always prevail. His intention from the beginning was revealed when He planted a garden in Eden and placed a man there to care for it. Furthermore, we understand that, before the fall, mankind was created to be an eternal being. Had sin not entered the world, man would have remained in that paradise AND the Creator would have continued to commune with man in that place. His desire to commune with His people is further demonstrated when God told Israel to construct a tabernacle “that I may dwell among them” (Exodus 25:8).

The point today is to show that, not only is God eternal but His purposes are as well. God will have His way, which means that He is determined to dwell among His people on the earth just as it was before the fall. One day the present state of this world shall pass away and God will dwell with us: “God Himself will be with them and be their God.” (Revelation 21:3)

So then, if we can be confident that His purpose for the earth and mankind at large will prevail, should we not also be confident that His purpose for you and me will prevail as well? If we remain committed to walk upright before Him in obedience and humility, He will bring us into the fruition of His will for us. So do not despair when things don’t go the way you think is best; trust Him to bring you into what is best for you. His plan for you will be fulfilled.

Blessings and Shalom,
