Good Morning.

Then the Lord said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation. You shall take with you seven each of every clean animal, a male and his female; two each of animals that are unclean, a male and his female; also seven each of birds of the air, male and female, to keep the species alive on the face of all the earth.” (Genesis 7:1-3)

When God instructed Noah to build the ark, it was that he and his family might be saved. Not only did God preserve the human race but also made provision for a remnant of every species of animal to be saved as well. But contrary to what most believe, there were more than just a pair of each animal; some were represented on the ark in greater numbers. As we see in these verses, clean animals were spared in groups of seven while the unclean were spared in pairs.

The point is that, in the very beginning, God already distinguished between clean and unclean. Furthermore long before the Torah was given at Sinai, Noah already knew the difference between clean and unclean animals. How can that be? Obviously, many of the things that Moses would write in the Torah were already established among God’s people, indicating that God’s Word is eternal. The Psalmist said:

“Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.” (Psalm 119:89)

Because He is eternal, having no beginning and no end, the same must be true of His Word. Regardless of the fact that mankind changes and continually alters laws and decrees, the Almighty is constant, declaring that, I am the Lord, I do not change” (Malachi 3:6).

That fact should be reassuring to those who are His people. Though the world may be in an upheaval, God’s Word and His Laws remain the same. Right now, leaves are budding, grass is growing and new life is springing up just as it has always been. That will never change in spite of what man may do. That is why we can have confidence and peace while others are fearful and uncertain. We serve the One who is the same, yesterday today and forever.

Blessings and Shalom,
