Good Morning.
Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind” and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
(Genesis 1:24-25)
Throughout the Creation account we see that everything God created was ordained to reproduce “according to its kind,” meaning that cows would not reproduce monkeys; orange trees wouldn’t produce apples. When you see a puppy, though you may not know which breed of dog it is, you know full well that it is a dog. When you see apples hanging on a branch, you immediately recognize that you are not looking at an orange tree. Everything produces according to its kind.
The same is true in spiritual matters: if someone professes to be a believer then the fruit in their life should reflect that. Frankly, it doesn’t matter what they say nearly as much as what they do. That is why the Messiah said:
“You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.” (Matthew 7:16-17)
Let us make sure that the fruit we produce is faithfully representing the One we profess to the world.
Blessings and Shalom,
Bill
