“The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”
In the beginning, before light was mentioned, the earth was engulfed in darkness. Yet in that darkness, the Spirit of God was present and brooding over the waters preparing to bring forth light and life. This teaches us that, though darkness surrounds us, it doesn’t mean that God isn’t present. Though, at times, we are uncertain of our next step and it seems as if we are all alone, we must remember that the Creator who dwells in light, also dwells in darkness. The Psalmist said:
“He made darkness His secret place; His pavilion round about Him were dark waters and thick cloud of the skies.” (Psalm 18:11)
Just because it’s dark, whether that’s in the world or in your world, doesn’t mean He isn’t there – He’s always there. In fact, sometimes its in the darkness of life that we discover He’s closer than He’s ever been.
Live this day knowing that His Spirit is ever-present, brooding over His people and preparing to bring forth light and life.
Blessings and Shalom,
