It was on this day, in 1920, that the Turkish government renounced all sovereignty over the Holy Land and officially recognized the British Mandate over the Holy Land. Before this, in 1917, British General Allenby walked into the city of Jerusalem through the Jaffa Gate as British forces continued to uproot Turkish forces throughout the Holy Land. It has been said that Allenby decided to walk through the gates of the city, rather than riding his horse, out of respect for a future conqueror and king — the Messiah, Yeshua. It was Messiah who, centuries before, had said:
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that kills the prophets and stones them that are sent unto her! How often I would have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you would not! Behold! Your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, you shall not see Me henceforth till you shall say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’” (Matthew 23:37-39)
Since that time Jerusalem has been, as Yeshua put it, “trodden down of the Gentiles.” Many Gentile powers, including the British Empire, have controlled Jerusalem and the land of Israel and, according to the prophecy, will continue to trample Jerusalem until the Messiah returns. Even though Jerusalem is currently in the hands of the Jewish state, many nations continue to harass the tiny country and try to manipulate matters regarding Israel and “the final status” of the city of Jerusalem. And so, the Messiah’s words are still ringing true, today — Jerusalem is still a source of contention for the entire world, and will not see true peace, until the Prince of Peace returns to rule and to reign from Jerusalem. I believe that time is fast approaching and on that day, according to the Psalmist, we will say:
“Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.” (Psalm 24:7-8)
Looking toward that day, let us not grow discouraged at the news coming out of Jerusalem and other nations, because we know that these unfortunate things must happen according to the word of the Messiah. It will grow dark before the day dawns but, on THAT DAY, Jerusalem and all God’s people will see her King.

Bill, Thank you for always being level-headed in how you approach every topic. I came here to see if you had anything to say about the events of this week, and when I saw the title you gave to this day’s entry, I knew I’d found what I was looking for. So many are praising the brokers and rejoicing over the news coming out of Jerusalem. Thank you for bringing a Scriptural perspective. Today I heard from someone who read all 800+ pages of the Vision for Peace and learned that we’re asking that no one have rights to Jerusalem. It’s been well-documented for decades what happens when anyone encourages Israel to give up anything. Could this be the reason the U.S. is divided so significantly in so many areas right now? It’s like all hell broke loose in this country and has been raging ever since the Vision for Peace was made public.
On another note. Do you plan to do more programs of God’s Views on Political News?
