Take this Book of the Law, and put it beside the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there as a witness to you. (Deuteronomy 31:26)

When Moses had finished writing all the words of the Torah, he took the book to the Levites with the instruction to place it by the Ark which, we should remember, is emblematic of God’s Throne on earth. It was placed there as a constant witness to the people to inspire, encourage, correct and, when need be, to provoke them to repentance. That it was placed by the Ark also insured that no one in their right mind would try to remove it. Furthermore, being next to God’s Seat, no one would be able to add to or take away from the Torah without detection. In a manner of speaking, God Himself would be watching over His Word.

So then, even if people disobeyed His Word or tried to amend or misinterpret His Word, His Truth would remain. In fact, in spite of his best efforts, Man has never been able to completely erase or eradicate what was written down so long ago -– the Almighty has seen to it. Not only that, His Word still impacts our lives and brings about that which He wills it to do. As it is written: “So shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:1).

For all of this, however, men have still chosen to ignore His Word or simply refuse to believe it. To compel men to adhere to it against their will is the one thing He seemingly refuses to do. However, He scans the earth to and fro looking for those hearts which are inclined to receive His Word, and then share it with others. This is how, for centuries, He has chosen to propagate His Word in the earth — through imperfect people just like you and me. Yes, believe it or not, you and I can have that kind of affect on this world if we are empowered by Spirit and Word of the Almighty.

It was in the days of King Josiah, that the Priest found the Book of the Law and resurrected it, as it were. In other words, the actions of one man prompted a time of repentance and national revival — and simply because the Word of God was read to people who were hungry for truth and righteousness. And so, let us be those vessels who honor, uphold and boldly declare the Word of the LORD to this generation.

Blessings and Shalom,
