According to tradition, it was on this day that Moses began to write the first part of the Torah, everything from the creation account until the revelation at Mt Sinai. If that is true, that’s a lot of writing to do in just a matter of a few days, not to mention the revelation that is imbedded within the words he wrote – all within a few days’ time.

The wisdom and prophecy in Genesis alone is enough to stagger the mind. In fact, there is more prophecy in the book of Genesis than all of the other books of the Bible, combined – and that’s saying a lot. I say this with confidence because that is essentially what the Creator told us through the prophet Isaiah.

“Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure,’” (Isaiah 46:9-10) 

This passage tells us that God doesn’t predict the end from the beginning of time, but tells us the end by telling us the beginning. That means everything we read in Genesis is prophetic and that everything revealed in every other book of the Bible can first be found in the book of Genesis.

What God gave to one man to write in just a matter of days, weeks, or maybe even years, takes us a lifetime to just scratch the surface of whats contained therein. I’m convinced that, the more we study the Word, the more we realize how much more there is to know. It’s like knocking on a door that leads to a secret chamber: you get into the room to investigate and find that it has multiple doors leading to somewhere else. You go through one of those doors and discover that the next room has multiple doors as well. When I get to the end of my life, a lot of doors will have been opened to me, and I will have learned many things about His Word. At the same time, I will realize that there were so many doors that led to so many rooms I never had opportunity to explore. There will be so much about His Word that I never really understood. 

That being said, we shouldn’t let the enormity of God’s Word become an excuse for not searching through it and learning as much as we can. Each of us has the responsibility to study to show ourselves approved, that we will not be as little children who are tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine. Furthermore, we must rely upon the Spirit of God to teach us about His Word, more so than websites and ministries. If the Creator can dictate these credible and eternal truths to a man in a matter of days or weeks, then that same Spirit is capable of downloading into our spirits the wisdom of His Word. Messiah said:      

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Matthew 7:1-11)

In the context of our topic today, this promise says that if we really want to learn and understand God’s Word, all we have to do is seek His face and search Him out. Perhaps one of the main reasons He embeds things within His Word is to provoke us to look for them. When we appeal to the Spirit of Truth, He will lead us into all truth and teach us all things. I submit to you that, in the days, weeks, months, and even years ahead, we’re going to need to know and understand more of God’s Word just to make it through some of whats coming upon the earth. We’re going to have to seek His face and be genuinely guided by His Spirit. Let’s start today.
